Born in Georgetown, Guyana, and shaped by Brooklyn, Dr. deNeze, aka. Dr. Denise Erskine-Meusa, knows firsthand that the most powerful thing a person can do is own their story.

That conviction has guided nearly 20 years of college teaching at institutions including the University of Maryland, College Park; University of Maryland Global Campus; Prince George’s Community College; the Community College of Baltimore County; and Montgomery College. A scholar of culturally responsive pedagogy and a published author, she knows that people communicate most powerfully when they draw on who they are and where they come from, and when they speak to who their listeners are. That lens helps her clients find the voice only they can offer.

For more than 18 years, she has prepared leaders to speak with clarity and authority in high-stakes settings, both as an executive speechwriter and as a coach. Her clients include Senate-confirmed officials, federal senior executives and private-sector executives. She writes the words they deliver and coaches them to lead with story rather than data alone. Her keynotes move live audiences to action.

She believes storytelling isn’t a technique. It’s the truest form of communication. When you tell your story with clarity and courage, people don’t just hear you. They feel you.

Dr. deNeze holds a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Morgan State University and a Master’s in Communications from The New School for Social Research, and is a Prosci® Certified Change Practitioner. She is the author of the forthcoming book Same Story, Different Room: Speaking with Clarity and Authority to Any Audience. Her clients leave not just more articulate, but more fully themselves, with a voice that is unmistakably their own.
